The Defence of the indictees tried to deny the competence of former Hague investigator Dean Meanning, who prepared the report on mass graves. The report indicates that a part of the victims, who were buried in a grave on a dam near Petkovci village, Zvornik municipality, were transferred to mass graves on the territory of Lipanj village, Zvornik municipality.

The Defence said that Meanning made his report mainly on the basis of “findings and opinions by other experts”.

“There are a few things that he discovered directly,” said Milos Peric, Defence attorney of indictee Stanisic.

In the room in which the public was present it was not possible to hear the interpreter, who translated The Hague investigator’s testimony.

Stanisic and Milosevic are on trial for having committed murders of about 1,000 Srebrenica residents on the dam near Petkovci in mid-July 1995.

According to the charges, Stanisic was Commander of the Sixth Battalion with the Zvornik Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, while Milosevic was his Deputy.

The trial is due to continue on October 29.
